Congress hears more online child predator warnings…
In the wake of 19-year-old Justin Berry’s chilling account of being lured into a world of child pornography at age 13, vol4_iss16 and vol4_iss1 Congress has heard subsequent testimony that 1500 leads Berry gave federal prosecutors were not prosecuted, and that at any given moment there are 50,000 child predators online, roaming the internet, looking for a child to seduce. Internet predators a major concern April 5: A congressional committee looking into Internet child pornography wants answers from the Justice Department about how aggressively it's going after online pedophiles.   • Internet-connected computers should be in family rooms, not bedrooms.
  • Use Internet filters and blocks.
  • Tell kids not to respond to strangers online.
  • Warn them never to give out personal information.

The Archdiocese of Boston has made "a solid beginning" in adopting new protections for children since the clergy sexual abuse scandal broke four years ago, but needs to commit more staffing and money to the effort, a review panel said Friday. hosted.ap.org A two-year review conducted by an advisory committee concludes that the archdiocese's biggest challenge is the "slow pace of organizational and cultural change" as it struggles with financial problems.
