Rhode Island, for instance, only has its worst 8 offenders on its online site. All 50 registries are available online at http://www.childprotectionprogram.org/sor/index.php. Being a registered Florida sex offender has not kept a Kentucky college from giving a football scholarship to a man accused of attempted battery, attempted rape and promoting sexual performance by a child. http://www.local6.com He admitted in court to photographing the sexual assault.
An Illinois psychologist acted more like the “Wicked Witch of the West” than Sigmund Freud, according to three former patients who are suing the hospital, saying they received treatment that included witchcraft, sexual advances, and threats of violence. http://www.courttv.com
 The mother of Michael Jackson’s accuser lashed out at the King of Pop Monday during cross examination saying he can no longer “fool the world.” http://www.usatoday.com She testified Jackson “had many ways to make my family disappear," including launching them into a hot air balloon. http://www.courttv.com On Monday, jurors were shown photographs of the wounds the family suffered in a previous case against store security guards. http://abcnews.go.com The accuser’s mom admitted to having concerns about Jackson early in his relationship with her son, yet continued to let him see Jackson. vol3_iss24 ABC News has a story that looks at why a parent would entrust a child to someone whose friendship with the child makes them at least somewhat uncomfortable. http://abcnews.go.com

MSNBC reports that the national databases used for criminal background checks on everyone from teachers to little league coaches have an error rate as high as 41%. http://www.msnbc.msn.com Only 70% of criminal convictions end up in the databases. Additionally, despite claims of being “national”, federal convictions, which include convictions for Internet child pornography, are stored in a separate database.
