Witness saw Jacko grope Macauley Culkin…
A man who used to cook Michael Jackson late-night snacks told jurors Friday that he once caught the pop star sliding his hand down the shorts of child actor Macaulay Culkin. http://www.courttv.com Culkin has publicly denied he was abused. The cook’s testimony rounded out a week of salacious testimony from former Jackson employees and one alleged victim who claim that Jackson has a history of sexually molesting young boys who were sleepover guests at his Neverland Ranch. Yesterday, the theme continued when the mother of a boy who received a multimillion-dollar settlement from Michael Jackson years ago told jurors that she allowed her son to sleep in Jackson's bed after a tearful plea from the singer. http://abcnews.go.com Meanwhile, ABC News is reporting that the mother of the boy who has accused Michael Jackson of molestation in his current criminal trial may not testify at all, taking the Fifth Amendment. http://abcnews.go.com

Cardinal Law officiates mass in Pope’s honor amid protests…
Cardinal Bernard Law celebrated Mass in mourning for Pope John Paul II in St. Peter’s Basilica on Monday, ignoring protests from victims that his handling of the sex abuse scandal in the U.S. Catholic Church should disqualify him from the honor. http://www.msnbc.msn.com Law resigned as Archbishop of Boston in December, 2002 after unsealed court records revealed he had moved predatory clergy among parishes without alerting parents that their children were at risk. More than 550 people have filed abuse claims in Boston in recent years, and the archdiocese has paid more than $85 million in settlements. Before Law’s Mass began, Vatican police quelled a protest by American leaders of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP). http://www.snapnetwork.org/

In other news…
A convicted sex offender facing capital murder charges in the killing of a 9-year-old Florida girl told investigators he buried her alive, CNN reported. http://www.cnn.com John Evander Couey, who confessed to the crimes, has a 30-year criminal history, and his case prompted more debate over the rights of sexual predators. A Florida Congresswoman has introduced “The Jessica Lunsford Act”, federal legislation that would increase penalties for sex offenders and predators who fail to register with the state and fail to reply to an address verification mailer. It would also require states to send address verification forms twice a year at random. http://www.chronicleonline.com Legislation has already been introduced in Florida that would require newly paroled Florida sex offenders to wear tracking devices. vol3_iss21
