It's not just priests...
Usually when you see this heading, we're letting you know about a clergy sex abuse scandal in yet another denomination. This time we're still talking about the Catholic Church, but it's nuns accused of the abuse. READ ARTICLE HERE Nine students, three women and six men, have sued at least 13 nuns. The plaintiff's attorney claims to represent 31 victims from the now-defunct Boston School for the Deaf.

More bad news for the Catholic Church...
In what was clearly not a good week for the hierarchy of the Catholic Church, the National Review Board, the independent body set up by the Catholic Church to oversee the Church's response to the abuse scandal, accused Catholic prelates of stalling efforts to protect children. READ ARTICLE HERE The Board's Chair, Anne M. Burke, an Illinois Appellate Court justice, blames bishops for taking a "business-as-usual" approach as the clerical sexual-abuse scandal faded from headlines, and claimed bishops had "manipulated" the board and denied it information on future monitoring.

Toys-R-Us losing even more money...
Toys-R-Us, the chain store we began boycotting last fall for selling pro-pedophilia books though Amazon.com at it's website (see http://www.childprotectionprogram.org/newsletter/vol1_iss10.html, http://www.childprotectionprogram.org/newsletter/vol1_iss11.html and http://www.childprotectionprogram.org/newsletter/vol1_iss13.html ) announced quarterly losses of $28 million. We guess the porn profits aren't as high after Christmas.

In other news...
A new study shows that youth and young adults account for two-thirds of all Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD's). READ ARTICLE HERE. You'll recall that last week Medical News Today reported that nearly half of all STD cases are to teens, and that an astounding 88% of diagnoses of human papillomavirus, trichomoniasis and chlamydia were to young people. http://www.childprotectionprogram.org/newsletter/vol2_iss18.html

Rep. Steve Chabot (R-OH), Rep. John Shadegg (R-AZ), and Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX) introduced a crime victims' rights bill (H.R. 4342), which would allow crime victims to confront their assailants in court and at sentence or parole hearings; require that victims be notified about the release or escape of a perpetrator from custody; require that victims' safety be considered in determining a release from custody; and guarantee the right for victims to seek restitution from their attackers.
